Prevent Cesarean Surgery

by melissa v. on September 18, 2011

Although this video is made for a U.S. audience, much of what is expressed here applies to Canadian women as well.  The cesarean rate in Canada is 26.3% (2005-6) and rising, according to the Canadian Institute of Health Information.  This rate varies significantly according to region.  B.C. has one of the highest cesarean rates in the country, at 30.5%.  The World Health Organization, after studying data and research on birth safety and statistics, recommends a rate between 5 and 10%.  Any higher than 15% and The WHO considers more harm than good is being done, and medical professionals are executing “inappropriate usage” of cesarean surgery.  Many women giving birth in Canada and the U.S. agree.

I hope you did not post this video to show how vaginal birth is preferable above a cesearean. I really dislike the mask, the pushing, the cord clamping, the doctor pulling at the head of baby… And mom and baby waiting to meet, awfull…
Childbirth does not have to be like this either! It can and should be natural, and babies do come out, gentle and should be welcomed with love from the very first moments!

Hi Agna,
The mask, cord clamping, sterile equipment etc. are all photos of cesarean birth. There are no photos of vaginal birth in this video. Hope this helps to clarify the video for you! Thanks for commenting.
