Mother and Baby Friendly

We will engage in practices and partner with people and companies who are mother and baby friendly, always taking into consideration what is best for the mother/baby dyad.

 

Environmentally Friendly

We will engage in practices and partner with companies who are environmentally friendly, recognizing that the earth supports us all.

 

Feminism

We support women, and recognize that pregnancy and birth are uniquely female experiences.  Women have the right to decide if they will give birth, and they have the right to decide where and how they will give birth, and who will be in attendance.

 

Listening to Mothers Voices and Sacredness of Birth

We will listen to the voices of mothers and honour every mother, even those who disagree with our perspectives. We recognize the sacredness of each birth, and honour each story.

 

Informed Choice

We will strive to provide the best information possible about best practices, and acknowledge each woman’s right to her informed choices.

 

Non-Judgement of Women and the Flawed System

We will not judge women for their beliefs and choices. We recognize that the system is flawed, and we will work to change the system to support women in evidence-based best practices.

 

Dignity and Worth

We will treat everyone with dignity, recognizing their intrinsic worth as a human being, even those who engage in practices that cause harm to mothers and babies.

 

Advocacy

We will speak out on behalf of ourselves and our sisters, recognizing that not everyone has the experiences and education that we do, and that we are trying to shape the world into a place that is better for mothers, babies, and society as a whole.

We recognize the power of creative solutions, and will be open to new ways of doing and seeing.
